August NEWSLETTER 2017

All the girls went for the Winter holidays expect one, all returning on the 23rd July, ready for the new term. They were joined by three new girls, so we have eleven in all. Three babies were born in July a boy and two girls, all well Thank God.

A present the girls are busy studying especially the matric student for their prelim exams. We wish them every success.
We have two Student Social Workers doing their practicals at Fatima House and also a Psychology student, the girls are enjoying their sessions with them.

We also have a Church Group which have been coming every week doing a five week course on empowerment which they are finding very helpful for life experiences.

Before the girls went on holidays the Matric Girls from Akasia High School came and Pampered the girls, doing massage, nail and hair does, which they enjoyed very much, they spoiled them by giving them presents for themselves and their babies. A big Thank You to them.

The Knight of DE Gama gave the girls tickets for their fund raising day at the Christian Brothers, they really enjoyed themselves, thanks to the Knights.
God bless All

Sr Anne.

April NEWSLETTER 2017

Girls:
We have nine girls at present, one baby born on the 25 March and two born in April. The girl’s ages from sixteen to eighteen, and Grades from eight to twelve, so all are going to school, it is great that they are able to continue with their education.
Outings:
On the public holiday the girls went to see a film in Wonder Park. We had three girls over the school holidays, so took them to the Zoo, which they all enjoyed, even went for a sail in the boat, which was a first for them all.

Volunteers:
We still have our three generous volunteers, Doreen comes on Saturdays, for Midwifery and exercises, James comes to help with the finances and takes the girls for computers lessons, on a Thursday, and Gloria teaches cooking which the girls enjoy, we appreciate their help, and would be grateful if there was a midwife near Pretoria North who could come during the week to help the girls.

Donations:
Sr Anne’s niece visited her from Ireland and donated a new double cooker and lightening for our study room, which we are most grateful. We also had a visit from the Pretoria North CWL who gave a wonderful gift to each girl, for their new born when they arrive, which was most welcome.

Thanks by sr. Anne
